Children learn best when they are having fun, so we have designed Clubhouse to stimulate cognitive, social-emotional, and physical development through an array of exciting activities.
Enrichment Classes
Lesley Ellis School offers a variety of enriching after-school programs for students in grades K–8. These engaging, hour-long sessions are designed to spark curiosity, build skills, and provide opportunities for creative exploration beyond the classroom. Programs are led by a combination of dedicated LES faculty and carefully selected, trusted vendors, ensuring high-quality instruction in a safe and supportive environment. Offerings vary by trimester and include activities such as Sports, Hiking, Academic Support, Model UN, Chess, Games, Video Production and more. Whether trying something new or diving deeper into a favorite interest, students are sure to find a program that excites and inspires. Classes run from 3:30 – 4:30. Elementary students will join the clubhouse group at 4:30 while Middle School students can choose to go to the extended study hall. Middle School will have Service learning on Friday afternoon. This year-long program will be offered from 1:00 -3:15 at no additional cost.

Duncan Dance with Boston Children’s Foundation (Grades K – 2)
The “Art & Technique of Isadora Duncan” dance program for children ages 5-7, developed by Dicki Johnson Macy, Ph.D., BC-DMT, LMHC, IDMA, offers a non-competitive environment designed to encourage healthy emotional, creative, and physical development. Children explore beauty, expression, and emotional intention through physical movement inspired by nature and the music of Schubert, Chopin, Brahms, Beethoven, and Mozart. Through Story-Based dances and improv, we cover themes of leadership and following, individual and collective, transition, nature as our teacher, and more!
Doubles Four Square with Janelle (Grades 3 – 8)
Get ready for fast-paced fun in this energetic twist on the classic playground game! Doubles Four Square challenges players to work in teams of two, building communication, teamwork, and quick reflexes. Students will practice serving, passing, and strategy as they learn new variations and creative rules that keep every game exciting. Whether you’re new to Four Square or a seasoned pro, Doubles Four Square offers a great way to stay active, make friends, and sharpen your skills—all while having a blast!
Math Support with Allison (Grades 5 – 8)
The Middle School Afterschool Math Support Group offers students a space to strengthen their math skills, build confidence, and get help with challenging concepts. Whether they’re catching up, reviewing material, or preparing for assessments, students can work in a supportive, small-group setting that encourages questions and reinforces problem-solving strategies. They are welcome to bring homework, review classwork, or focus on specific areas where they need extra practice—all in a relaxed, low-pressure environment designed to help them succeed.
Model UN with Sara (Grades 5 – 8 )
The Middle School Model UN program offers students a dynamic opportunity to step into the shoes of global diplomats and engage in thoughtful debate, collaboration, and problem-solving. Participants will research current international issues, represent different countries, and work together in simulated United Nations committees to draft resolutions and propose solutions to global challenges. Through this program, students will strengthen their public speaking, critical thinking, and negotiation skills while gaining a deeper understanding of world affairs and the importance of diplomacy.
Sustainability Club with Pascale (Grades 5 – 8)
The Middle School Sustainability Club is a fun and engaging space where students come together to explore how small actions can make a big difference for our planet. Through hands-on projects like building pollinator gardens, organizing recycling drives, and reducing single-use plastics at school, club members learn practical ways to promote environmental responsibility. The group also investigates topics such as climate change, clean energy, and sustainable food systems, empowering students to become thoughtful stewards of the environment. Whether brainstorming new initiatives or leading school-wide campaigns, members work as a team to create positive change in their community.

Fairy House Builders with Margaret (Grades K – 2)
Step into a world of wonder and imagination as we design and build magical fairy houses! In this class, young creators will use natural materials like sticks, leaves, stones, and pinecones, along with craft supplies, to construct tiny homes perfect for fairies, gnomes, or woodland creatures. As we build, we’ll explore ideas about nature, storytelling, and design. Each session will include time for outdoor discovery, collecting materials, and sharing our creations with friends. No two fairy houses are ever the same—just like the imaginations behind them!
Chess Club with Rookly Chess (Grades 3 – 4)
Rookly Chess Club offers students a fun and engaging way to develop their strategic thinking, patience, and problem-solving skills through the game of chess. Designed for players of all levels, the club meets regularly for lessons, practice games, and friendly competition. Through Rookly’s online platform, students also have the opportunity to represent their school and compete against peers from over 145 schools across the country—all without having to travel. Whether your child is new to the game or a seasoned player, Rookly Chess Club fosters a supportive environment where players can grow, connect, and enjoy the thrill of the game.
Contest Math / Math Club with Michel (Grades 5 – 8)
Do you love math? Do you enjoy math contests and want to get better at them? In this afterschool we will practice math contest questions from Noetic Learning, Math Counts, the Deerfield Math Contest, and others. We will watch videos on problem solving techniques and learn to use strategies like examining a smaller case, working backwards, writing an equation, guess & check, and more. We will spend time on topics that often get less attention in standard math classes but are prevalent in contest questions, like geometry and probability. This afterschool is great preparation if you’d like to become a member of the Lesley Ellis Math Team, the Calculating Carnivores. Limited to 12 students.
The Balance Club with Anne (Grades 5–8)
The Balance Club is a supportive and practical space for middle school students to strengthen their executive functioning skills. Each week, students will engage in hands-on activities like organization challenges, planning games, time management exercises, and prioritization tasks that help build focus, follow-through, and confidence. The club will also provide opportunities for students to reflect on their personal routines, problem-solve common academic hurdles, and share strategies with peers. Whether it’s tackling a messy backpack, breaking down a big assignment, or creating a weekly schedule, The Balance Club helps students find steady and effective ways to manage their responsibilities and build strong habits for school and beyond.
Game Club with Patrick (Grades 5 – 8)
In this creative and interactive class, students will explore the wide world of games—from classic board games and card games to strategy, party, and cooperative games. As they play, students will keep a personal Games Journal where they reflect on what they liked, what challenged them, and how different games encourage problem-solving, teamwork, and fun. Building on what they discover, students will have the opportunity to design their own original games, experimenting with rules, materials, and themes. Whether you’re a seasoned gamer or just curious, this class is a place for imagination, collaboration, and play!

Spectacular Sports with Knucklebones (Grades k – 2)
Spectacular Sports focuses on developing participants’ fundamentals and understanding of various sports. Starting at participants level, we’ll progress through a variety of sports such as badminton, lacrosse, baseball, basketball, flag football and more. Of course, we’ll add in a sprinkling of cultural and nature-based games as well as our own sporting games such as Endline, Throw N’ Go, and Wheel Steal. Everyone will engage in playing through a perspective of positive psychology and teamwork. Proper clothing and sneakers are required.
Martial Arts with Oom Yung Doe (Grades 3 – 4)
Our Martial Arts program offers elementary students a dynamic way to build confidence, character, and respect. Through learning self-defense techniques, students gain practical skills that help them feel secure and self-assured. As they develop discipline and determination on the mat, they often see these qualities carry over into their academic work, improving focus and persistence in school. The program places a strong emphasis on self-respect, helping students better understand their own strengths and challenges, which in turn fosters greater respect and empathy for others. By combining physical training with personal growth, this class supports students in becoming confident, thoughtful, and respectful members of their community.

Hike local wilderness areas such as the Middlesex Fells Reservation, Prospect Hill and the Western Greenway, led by our experienced guides. Engage your curiosity, seek out adventure, build camaraderie, and increase your stamina on hikes of varying distances and challenges. Gain confidence as you learn navigation techniques and to read the forest for clues about the non-human life around us. Each season culminates in a full-day hike in the White Mountain National Forest to use all of the experience you’ve gained! The club provides all equipment needed. Please note that this club will run until 6:00 p.m.

Magic the Gathering invites students to explore the exciting world of strategy, storytelling, and critical thinking through this classic trading card game. Whether you’re a seasoned planeswalker or brand new to the game, the club offers a welcoming space to learn the rules, build decks, and engage in friendly battles with peers. Players will sharpen their math, logic, and decision-making skills while immersing themselves in a richly imaginative universe. The club emphasizes good sportsmanship, creativity, and fun, making it the perfect for fans of games and fantasy alike.
Literary Magazine Club with Margaret (Grades 5 – 8)
Calling all writers, poets, artists, and dreamers! In Literary Magazine Club, students will work together to create and publish a magazine that showcases original stories, poems, essays, artwork, and photography. From brainstorming themes to editing and designing pages, club members will have a chance to share their voices and ideas while learning about the creative publishing process. This is a space for self-expression, collaboration, and bringing imagination to life on the page. At the end of the session, we’ll celebrate with a published magazine to share with friends, family, and the school community!
Video Editing Class with Bobby (Grades 5 – 8)
Bring your stories to life on screen! In this hands-on class, students will learn the basics of video editing using beginner-friendly software. From cutting clips and adding music to creating smooth transitions and special effects, participants will gain the skills to turn raw footage into polished short films, vlogs, or mini documentaries. We’ll explore storytelling through video, experiment with different styles, and work on fun projects individually and in small groups. No prior experience needed—just creativity and curiosity!

Our Service Learning Program for students in grades 5 through 8 is an exciting, hands-on opportunity for young changemakers to connect their learning with real-world impact. Designed to inspire empathy, leadership, and active citizenship, the program empowers students to tackle meaningful issues in their communities with purpose, creativity, and heart. Throughout the year, students engage in dynamic projects that combine academic learning with community service—whether it’s organizing a school-wide recycling campaign, partnering with local shelters, launching awareness initiatives, or tending to a community garden. Each project follows a thoughtful process: exploration and research, action and implementation, and finally reflection and celebration. Student voice drives the experience—they choose the causes, brainstorm solutions, and lead the charge—building confidence, collaboration, and critical thinking along the way. Supported by teachers and community mentors, students learn that their ideas matter and that they have the power to create real change. By the end of the program, students don’t just understand the world more deeply—they see themselves as part of the solution. This year-long program, offered at no additional cost, will meet on Friday afternoons from 1:00–3:15.
